Field days to view and discuss paddock scale grazing trials that have been run over the last year are being held this month. One site includes a discussion on a collaboration with TIA, UTAS and Cibolabs with calibrating biomass and biological on-ground monitoring, and drone and satellite data.
The days will cover:
- how to increase grass density and diversity, improve water infiltartion, soil moisture retention, nutrient cycling and soil stability
- how and what to measure to know how management is impacting pasture and soil health
- what is the most profitable, low risk and rapid way to restore soil health with grazing
- what is the science behind reading the land
- case studies on highly profitable farmers who are building their soil health and grass inventory
- how to improve water infiltartion, nutrient cycling and soil stability
- how to set up convenient day to day management that is profitable and enjoyable
- designing fencing and water infrastructure
- developing grazing plans to know how much grass you have ahead of you
- At Okehampton, there will be a welcome to country and overview of Healthy Country Planning, and a presentation on calibrating on ground data with drone and satellite data.
The field days will be held at:
- “Hillview”, Telita on Monday 20 February – book here
- “Okehampton”, on Tuesday 21 February – book here
- “Blue Hills”, Copping on Wednesday 22 February – book here

Marshall Roberts and Meredith Wilson at “Valleyfield” are hosting us for the second farm walk this season (the first at “Barega”, Evandale on 1 December, more here) looking at how their paddocks are responding to the differing stock density, extended recovery periods and the wet season.
“Building Resilient Farming Systems – Revisiting 1 Year On – Evandale & Jericho”
June 28th & 30th, 2022
10am – 4pm.
It’s time to check in on the grazing trials established 12 months ago. The trials compared the combination of high stock density, high grass utilisation and longer grass recoveries, with low stock density, low utilisation and shorter recoveries.
What has been the change in soil health and function?
The workshop part of the days will be all about the ‘how to’.
Two dates and locations – visit the Humanitix event link for Jericho and the event link for Evandale for more details and booking info.
“Building Resilient Farming Systems ~ How to Implement Regenerative Grazing and Cover Cropping”

A series of 3 workshop were held in 2021 and weekly webinars continue in 2022, plus seasonal face to face catchups to build community around resilient, low risk grazing operations. May 2021 – Mar 2022 .

Managing Run Country and Native Grasses to Increase the Productivity of Perennial Pastures
Co-designing trials with landholders to increase the density, diversity and productivity of the perennial grass component of run country and native grasslands . The design process began in September, with workshops early in 2022.
Kindly hosted at “Okehampton”, Triabunna & “Kingston” Conara.
